Dining Room                 finished in 2007
The different renovations of our home.
Our home was originally built in 1920, the dining room was an extension built in 1960.  When we renovated the dining room there was sheet rock that covered the chimney which we removed.  After cleaning the brick we applied a finish to preserve the brick, then put in the cabinets for our china and glassware, and to also have a bar.  All the wood is a light oak with black countertops.  The wine rack is a piece of furniture we built to allow the red wine to lay on its side, at a slight angle, to keep the cork moist to preserve the wine from going bad or from souring.
One of the pictures above shows the flatware drawer; with oak wood we made all the slots for the flatware to fit in an organized manner, then lined the draw with green satin.
Above all, we think the chimney gives the dining room a rustic, comfortable atmosphere.  The other renovations on our home can be found at our Home website on RENOVATIONS which show the second floor addition that was completed two years ago.
